Proverbs 26:28

Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

People who has not truth in them love to control others leading them astray. Jesus wasn’t much for flattery. He did not sugar-coat the gospel with appropriate or acceptable words by the culture’s standards. When the Pharisees acted like hypocrites, He told them they were hypocrites. Using terms like “brood of vipers” doesn’t win you popular votes with the Sanhedrin. Many of us can probably think of a time when we were being told exactly what we wanted to hear. Most often though, those words don’t serve us and are not the truth. Flattery, along with other lies that have selfish motives, only destroy an accurate view of self and of the world around us. We have a responsibility to speak the truth in love.

“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a LYING TONGUE, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.Proverbs 6:16-19LYING
