Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Our fear of the Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. This truth is found in more than one scripture. At the same time, we read that “perfect love casts out all fear”.
We are promised that the fear of the Yahweh leads to life. Reconciling fear’s rightful place in our relationship with Yahshua can take some unpacking. When we fear something, often our first reaction is to avoid it. I’m afraid of heights, so I don’t go to the roof of a tall building, etc. This is not the fear that our Heavenly father need us to have. The fear He talk about , is the fear of not sinning and looking after our family and the earthly people.
The fear of the Yahweh however, leads us on a path of righteousness. We fear Elohim not because we believe that He desires to punish us, but because we know He requires true justice, and that apart from Yahshua the Messiah "Jesus" we are recipients of His wrath. It is because we recognise His love for us in Messiah that fearing Him leads us to believe that His grace is sufficient.
