Proverbs 13:2-3 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
Words have power. They have the ability to change someone’s life by either giving death or life, and they can do this without the speaker even realising their impact. This is why it is important to guard what we speak, always trying to be led by the Holy Spirit. Mark 7:15 “Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”
If we choose to ignore Yahshua the Messiah teaching, it stands to reason that we can defile ourselves by what we speak, because it is a reflection of what is in our hearts.
Nobody is perfect but we are made perfect walking in faith with Yahweh our heavenly Father, and forgiveness is available as we stumble. Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” It is these life-giving qualities that ought to be on the “tip of our tongues”.
Life and Death are in the Power of the Tongue or The Words
“But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it. The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him. After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. …” (Acts 5:3-10), ‘Death’
