WHAT DOES BIBLE SAY ABOUT SEXUAL SIN?

I will start by pointing out at some verses that talk about sex and find what God says about it. In 1st Corinthians 6:18-20 “so run away from sexual sin. It involves the body in a way that no other sin does. So if you commit sexual sin, you are sinning against your own body. You should know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you. You don’t own yourselves. God paid a very high price to save humankind from sin.

So honour God with your body”. And in 1st Corinthians 6:9-10 “surely you know that people who do wrong will not get to enjoy God’s kingdom. Don’t be fooled. this are the people who will not get to enjoy his kingdom; those who sin sexually, those who worship idols, those who commit adultery, men who let other men use them for sex or who have sex with other men, those who steal, those who are greedy, those who drink too much, those who abuse others with insults, and those who cheat”

So adultery, fornication or other kind of sexual misconduct is wrong and sinful. We see that the bible tells us that those who commit sexual sin will not see the kingdom of God. So why should one desire to do something that will hider him/her to see God kingdom? The will of God is revealed to those who endure, persevere, and triumph over temptations, particularly   in the area of sexual activity.

Sexual intercourse was designed for making babies. Genesis 1; 27-28 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them and God blessed them and said to them ‘be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground”. So it is very important parent remain faithful to each other and bring up their children in God fearing ways.

Malachi 2;1 5 says “Has not the Lord made them one ? In flesh and in spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth”.some people do test how their relationship will be before they are married. God require people to make commitment before becoming one flesh. Hebrews 13; 4 says “marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexual immoral”.

For those who are not married.

Sex between the unmarried people is sexual immorality, even if you are engaged to them. It was assumed in New Testament and Old Testament that both men and women would remain virgin until marriage.

In Old Testament, for instance Genesis 38:24 shows the reaction to the news that a woman has had sex outside of marriage. and Exodus 22:16 shows that a man who has sex with a woman is expected to marry her. This is because the proper place for sexual relationship is in marriage.

In 1st Corinthians 7, the only way to avoid sex immorality is to obtain from sex as a single person, or to get married and then be faithful to your spouse. God designed sex as his gift for marriage. You give your body to your spouse and they give you theirs. It’s meant to build a bond that last lifetime with the potential to create babies as well.

Proverbs 1:7 “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instructions”. To fear God is to hate evil, so if you fear God you will definitely hate sexual immorality.

May God be with us as we obey his words and commands.
